FAQs
This depends on the type of session you are seeking to enhance your emotional wellbeing. Individual sessions are 50-minutes long, with initial, couple, and family sessions 1.5 hours, giving each party ample opportunity to share concerns, gain enhanced behaviours, and progress towards their therapeutic goals.
Please note: The last 10 minutes of the 1.5-hour sessions are allocated for checking out and booking your next session.
Most service providers cover counselling service provided by a RCC. I am an approved provider with ICBC, First Nations Health Authority (FNHA), WPO, GreenShield Health and Arete. Please check with your service provider to see if you are eligible for coverage before booking a session. Email me for details about the rates.
I am currently based in Singapore and see clients online (Zoom or Google Meet) and in-person.
The first session is an introductory session where the client and I get to know each other. Issues and/or concerns and therapeutic goals will be discussed. If there are more than one party in the initial session, I would give each party a chance to share privately in a 1:1 session before getting the entire party back in the room to talk about the therapeutic goal and next step moving forward.
This depends on the individual and the therapeutic goal. Some clients see me weekly or bimonthly. Others come in for a monthly check-in or when they feel the need. I usually recommend starting with a weekly session for a total of 4-6 sessions before scaling back. Changing behaviors can take time and consistency. Hence the recommendation for a few weekly sessions to get you started before scaling back. I also do a review session with the client after 4-6 sessions to check for progress and see if we need to update the therapeutic goals.
You don't need to be good at making art to attend a session. Art therapy is just another way to explore the issue and/or concern. What is important is the process and how it allows the client to feel safe to explore. Often times, the client would have one of those A-Ha moments during the art making process.
When a session is booked, that time slot is set aside for the client. Hence I kindly ask that you provide at least 48 hours notice for late cancellation or you would be charged for a full session. This is in fairness to my practice and for those who would like to come in but couldn't get a spot.
